HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.
The unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.

Course Duration: This qualification will be delivered in 8 hours (1 day).

Course Outcomes

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is one of the most common workplaces first aid courses in Australia and is recognised in all states and territories. This first aid course teaches both the theory behind and the practical application of first aid skills pertaining to over 2 dozen of the most common first aid conditions and illnesses.
Once the students have completed this comprehensive first aid course, they will be proficient in national first aid.
They will learn how to identify signs and symptoms and provide first aid assistance in line with Australian Resuscitation Council, ARC guidelines and other relevant Australian national peak clinical bodies like Safe Work Australia, the National Asthma Council, the Epilepsy Foundation and Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy, ASCIA.

Completion

Participants who demonstrate competence to the required standard will receive a Statement of Attainment in the Unit of Competency HLTAID011 Provide first aid.

Provide first aid should be refreshed/renewed every 3 years
